December Editor’s Note

Thriving in the Chaos: A December Letter to the Entrepreneurs Who Do It All

December is not my “exhale month.”
It is not slow. Or quiet. Or reflective in that serene, Pinterest-board kind of way.

December is chaos.
December is kids everywhere, flour on every surface of the kitchen, a calendar packed with school programs and family gatherings, and a husband asking, “Wait—what night are the ugly sweater group photos again?”

It’s the kind of month where I’m hanging on for dear life, trying to stay creative, stay awake, and keep the Christmas train moving full speed ahead.
And honestly?

I love it.

I love the messy kitchen from nonstop baking, the back-to-back Christmas movies, the hot cocoa that seems to refill itself, the late-night gift wrapping, the parties, the traditions… all of it. This is my jam. Because in the middle of the madness, I look around at my family and think:

This is it. This is the good stuff.

And every year, right around this time, I’m reminded exactly why I wanted to run my own business in the first place.

Because no matter how chaotic December gets, I am free.
I get to work my business around the life I love—not the other way around.

No begging for PTO.
No squeezing myself into someone else’s timeline.
No last-minute “urgent” tasks from the guy above me on the chain of command.

I am the guy above.
And if I need to pull an all-nighter, that’s my call.
If I hustled hard earlier in the week and now have space to attempt my great-grandma’s fruitcake recipe with my kids—well, I can do that too.

This is the legacy I want my children to remember when they think of my business:
Mom created a life where she could do what she loved without compromising time with the people she loved.

Now—to be clear—this balance is not perfect all year long. I have seasons of late nights, seasons where work demands center stage, seasons where I’m stretched thin. That’s real life as an entrepreneur.

But December?
December brings me back to what matters.
It’s the month that realigns me before I start planning for the year ahead.
It reminds me to protect this balance—to build it intentionally into my schedule so it doesn’t get swallowed by the busy.

And while some people like to exit the year quietly, easing into January with soft intentions…

I’m not that girl.
I live for ending the year with a bang.

This is my finish-line sprint.
The joyful hustle.
The “let’s make it happen” energy that sets the tone for everything that comes next.

So welcome to the December Legacy Edition of The Blog.

A month where we honor what truly matters.
A month where we rebuild the connection between our why and our work.
A month where we hold both hustle and heart.

Let’s make this month unforgettable.
Let’s build a legacy worth remembering—one messy, joyful, intentional moment at a time.
